From August 8, 2020, to November 1, 2020
After stopping in Certaldo, Cascina and Lajatico, Sheep Art – Arte in Transumanza is taking over the spaces of the old Wineries of the Castle of Castelfalfi, for a summer dedicated to art, directed by Alberto Bartalini and curated by Filippo Lotti. The project came to life from an idea of Paool Piacenti from Forme d’Arte to emphasize the possible link between the deep rural roots oft his corner of Tuscany and the art of painting, with a play on double meanings, thereby presenting the ancient relationship
between figurative art and the agricultural tradition anew.
This is where the curator’s proposal came from: to give 24 artists double-sided wooden outlines in the shape of sheep – true-to-life size – on which they could express their creativity and flair. The Tuscan artists involved in this recount, invent and narrate stories, building their version of reality through images, colors and suggestions on this extremely unusual pictorial medium.
This original artistic project links the two complementary spheres of man and animal: wandering, traveling, transhumance. Just as Castelfalfi opens its doors to guests from all over the world, who are enriched by the journey, so too has this flock founds its ideal pasture in this Tuscan village. Man and animal have been interacting in life as in art since time immemorial, yet with profound differences depending on the different eras. The 24 photographers, who are also Tuscans, are an integral part of the exhibition and were invited to create a photographic portrait of each artist contextualized with the project." style=" border-color: transparent; font-weight: bold; padding: 7px 10px; margin-bottom:10px;">Mehr Ansehen.
